Cuban Medical
Brigade in Nicaragua
MANAGUA - Cuban doctors arrive Friday at
some municipalities of Masaya department,
located 18, 6 miles from the capital, to
take health and hope to the handicapped
population, one of the most unprotected
sectors.
Masatepe, Nadasmo, Nindirí and Tisma are
among the populations receiving gratefully
the arrival of the Cuban Medical Brigade "Todos
con voz", which carries out a study on the
causes of disability helped by Nicaraguan
colleagues
Municipal authorities and inhabitants
receive the visit of the teams that are also
made up of young Nicaraguan graduates of the
Latin American Medical School in Havana
(ELAM).
Physicians also support the governmental
campaign against dengue epidemic threatening
the population and spreading throughout the
nation.
During their visit to the houses they hold
talks on the measures to prevent the disease
and to avoid the mosquito breeding.
The work of the medical brigades is
supported by the country's main authorities
included local mayors and the Health
Minister Guillermo Gonzalez, present at a
massive solidarity demonstration carried out
in Nindiri, where 484 people suffering from
disabilities were detected.
