At Home,
Work or Play Costa Ricans Will Be Glued To
Their Television Today
Homemakers, businessmen, factory workers,
taxi drivers and almost all of Costa Rica
will be glued to their television sets today
to watch finals game between Costa Rica and
Brazil taking place in Cairo, Egypt.
And as promised on Sunday by Costa Rica
president, Oscar Arias, he signed yesterday
an executive order to allow all public
employees a long lunch hour today - 3 hours,
between 12 noon and 3pm.
The executive order does not include the
employees of the Banco Central de Costa Rica
(BCCR) - the Central Bank, not to be
confused with the Banco de Costa Rica (BCR)
- officers of the Fuerza Pública (police)
and Policía de Tránsito (traffic police).
In addition, employees of the Ministerio de
Salud (Health Ministry) working with the
AH1N1 flu virus will have to skip out the
game.
As for schools, the vice-ministra de
Edcuación (Public Education ministry),
Silvia Víquez, said that there will be no
classes in the afternoon at all public
schools.
