Brazil Bee Attack Causes Deadly Accident
SAO PAULO – The attack of a swarm of bees
caused a traffic accident in the southern
Brazilian city of Rochedo, in which one
person died and two others were injured,
Globo television said Monday.
The bees entered the vehicle as it drove
down an expressway and attacked the driver,
who lost control of his car, which turned
over several times, Globo said.
Right away, a group of motorcyclists who
were going by were able to help the two
injured victims, and that was because they
were protected with helmets, jackets and
gloves, firefighters and police said.
Nonetheless, the motorcyclists were unable
to help the car’s driver, who was trapped
inside the wreck.
When first responders arrived, the presence
of the bees did not permit the man being
helped, and the agents had to leave to find
adequate clothing.
The driver had died by the time the agents
return equipped to work protected from the
bees. EFE
