Finally We Are Getting Seasonal Rain
Finally it feels like the rainy season with
the downpours of the last couple of days
that are typical of October in Costa Rica.
The national weather service - the Instituto
Meteorológico Nacional - is forecasting that
the heavy rains will continue all week as a
low pressure system hangs over the national
territory.
This year, due to the effects of the "El
Niño", rainfall has been much lower than
usual, up to more than 50% than typical for
the season.
However, the first few days of October, the
wettest month of the year, have been
typical.
The rain has been heavy in the Central
Valley, the mountainous areas of the
northern zone and the Pacific coast.
