Head-On
Collision in Brazil Kills 11
RIO DE JANEIRO – Eleven people were killed
and seven others were injured when a bus and
a van collided head-on on a road in
northeastern Brazil, the Federal Highway
Police said Saturday.
All of the dead were from the same family
and were returning Friday night in the van
to their town after attending a funeral in
Petrolina, a city in Pernambuco state.
The vehicle was completely destroyed and
none of its occupants survived the crash,
according to that police force, which still
has not determined the cause of the
accident.
Twenty passengers were traveling in the bus,
seven of whom were slightly injured and
taken to nearby hospitals.
