Budget Excludes PARLACEN

2010 budget excludes the draft budget $1.7
million allocation for the Central American
Parliament (PARLACEN), showing official
interest in quitting that body.
Among other reasons, La Prensa daily
mentions delayed salary payments to
Panamanian legislators in office since
August due to official plans to quit
PARLACEN.
Panama President Ricardo Martinelli promised
in his election drive to quit this body he
considers inefficient.
PARLACEN is made up of legislators from
Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua
and Panama, 20 from the Dominican Republic
plus ex presidents and ex vice presidents. |
