Guanacastearte Took The City of Hojancha

(InfoWeb Press) The II Regional Cultural Festival Guanacastearte 2009 took place in the city of Hojancha from the 12 to the 14th of November and had three stages where various dance, folklore, theater, music, puppet, and taletelling presentations, movies, visual arts shows, microbusiness fair and others took place.

Guanacastearte is a project that arose 5 years ago as a necessity from the cultural sector of Guanacaste to project the professional, high quality level artistic work that is produced in this province. The project came about in 2008 backed by the Regional Cultural Office of Guanacaste and the Cultural Department of the Ministry of Culture and Youth and the participating artists.

“Today, this being the second consecutive year, this regional cultural festival is taking place and the canton of Hojancha is hosting the same, with a valuable communal work team made up of different social and institutional actors, that have preoccupied themselves to be participants of, in practice, of a learning and feedback process in the communal artistic production”, pointed out Vera Vargas León, from the Regional Culture Office of Guanacaste.

This year there were three stages: The Municipal Gymnasium of Hojancha (scenic arts), and the main stage of the central park (music and folklore music groups with live music); the esplanade of the central park (micro artistic and cultural business fair) and the facilities of CEMPRODECA (literature, shows, movies, conversations, bull session, others).

This festival continues its tour through Guanacaste and from now expect to continue going around, for that we will have as a base town, the canton of Abangares (2010). With that, access to the cultural offering will be more democratic, help push the production and teamwork efforts of the diverse social actors of the community contributing to strengthen the promotion processes, production and cultural management”, added Vargas.

On this occasion the shows that took place were totally free and no sign up fee was charged to the participating groups and artists. The festival aims at taking to the stage professional quality work that the artists of Guanacaste and national and international guests have developed.

“From the heart I appreciate the participating artists, cultural promoters, comunal leaders, businesses and institutions that have collaborated with the production of the festival, thanks to those who keep believing that investing resources in culture is necessary and just and that with that the culture and identity of the people and societies of the current globalized system will be strengthened. A hug to all of the inhabitants of Hojancha that are our main objective and whom we owe to make the festival a real success. To all thos that visit us feel at home and feel cordially welcome to enjoy from this rain of art at Guanacastearte”, finalized Vargas León.
