Regrets Costa Rican Recognition of Honduran
Elections
TEGUCIGALPA - Ousted Honduran President
Manuel Zelaya regretted on Saturday the call
of Costa Rican President Oscar Arias to the
international community to recognize the
general elections of Nov. 29 in Honduras.
During a phone interview, Zelaya told local
radio station Radio Globo that Arias does
not know the suffering of the Honduran
people, who are summoned to vote on Sunday.
On Saturday, Arias told CNN that not
recognizing the winner of the general
elections of Honduras would be even more
harmful to the country, which is already
submerged in a political crisis since the
coup of June 28 against Zelaya.
"(Arias) does not know what all of the
Hondurans are suffering here," Zelaya said.
Arias was mediator of the conflict between
Zelaya and the de facto government, and
promoter of the San Jose Agreement to solve
the crisis.
