Venezuela to Denounce US Bases in Colombia
UNITED NATIONS - Venezuela will alert on Wednesday of the
danger represented by the US bases in
Colombia for peace and security in the
region.
The document will be delivered by Venezuelan
representative to the UN, Jorge Valero, to
the UN Security Council president Thomas
Mayr-Harting.
Sources from the Venezuelan Embassy said the problem constitutes the
essence of communication prepared by the UN.
There will be a press conference with the
head of the Venezuelan mission.
Two weeks ago, Colombia left a letter to the
UN Security Council to accuse Venezuelan
President Higo Chavez of threatening
Colombia with the use of the force, but
Valero rejected the Colombian statements and
denounced the US bases in Colombia.
Valero stated the Latin American countries
want to live in peace, despite their
differences. The US bases are creating a
dangerous reality, able to provoke a
conflict in the region. |
