New
Turrubares Bridge Opened
Residents of the areas of Orotina and
Turrubares can now use the pedestrian bridge
over the Tárcoles river to commute between
the two communities following the collapse
of the suspension bridge on October 22,
killing five and injuring dozens, when a
loaded passenger bus plunged into the river
after the bridge failed under the weight of
the bus.
Since residents have had to cross the river
by boat, a dangerous practice due to the
strong currents of the river.
However, now they can use the bailey bridge
structure that spans the 80 metre width of
the river and connect to bus and taxi
service on both sides. |
