Young Woman Attempts To Extort Her Older
Lover
For her greed, a woman in Puntarenas, was
arrested on Wednesday for attempting to
extort ˘4 million colones from ex-boyfriend
in exchange for not filing charges of rape.
The woman, who was identified only by her
last name Ulate and is 22 years of age, had
been carrying on a romantic relationship
with a 40 year old man from the area of
Monteverde.
The woman was kept with all the luxuries,
including an apartment in a San José high
class neighbourhood, and with money for
shopping, travel to other countries, and had
her school tuition paid at a private
university.
The relationship is said to have lasted some
two years, when one night the couple went to
a party in Guanacaste, where the woman asked
her lover for sex in the vehicle, which she
later used to threaten the man with a
payment of ˘4 million colones and a car or
she would charge him with rape.
The man decided, however, to call on the
local detachment of the Organismo de
Investigación Judicial (OIJ) in Monteverde,
charging the woman with extortion and the
basis for the judicial sting.
The woman, when she showed up as agreed to
pick up the first payment, was detained by
OIJ agents who had been watching every move
by the woman who arrived in the company of
two men, one claiming to be her brother in
law, the other to help in the purchase of a
vehicle.
The two men were also detained by OIJ
agents.
The man told the press after the arrest that
he wa disappointed and heart broken, but was
now calm after seeing the love of his life
escort by vehicle, not the one he was going
to buy her, but in a police vehicle. |
