Keeps Alert For Pouring
Rains
SAN SALVADOR - El
Salvador's Public Health and Social Aid
Ministry (MSPAS) said Tuesday the alert for
disasters caused by pouring rains during the
weekend would remain in effect.
The MSPAS said that so far, 256 people had
been rendered ill in five provinces by
rain-related disasters and 90 percent of
them had been hospitalized.
Another 1,813 people were treated in
shelters.
The MSPAS said it had reinforced hospitals
with specialists in orthopedics and surgery
and was monitoring the situation in
temporary shelters.
Meanwhile, the National Service of
Territorial Studies said Monday the water
level began stabilizing and had lowered, and
rains coming in next hours would not pose
flood risk in Grande de San Miguel River.
