American Parliament Slams Honduras
Coup
Managua - The President of the Central
American Parliament (Parlacen), Gloria
Oqueli demanded here an end to the coup in
Honduras and supported its constitutional
President Manuel Zelaya.
After the kidnapping and expulsion of Zelaya,
Roberto Micheletti was placed as head of
government, and Oqueli demanded he step down
from being a "malicious marauder."
The Honduran legislator said her compatriots
should reject the de facto regime and
support the elected leader, who is also
present at the emergency meeting of the
Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our
America in this capital.
The Parlacen leader said that with the
support of all women, campesinos, workers,
poor people, children and honest
businesspeople in Honduras, Zelaya is not
alone. Rise up and shine, she said, we will
not allow them to destroy the hope he has
seeded.
Oqueli drafted a communique to be considered
by more than 40 Central American political
forces, and called for an end to the bloody
actions of the military occupation.
