Prosecutes
Deposed President
Tegucigalpa - The
Honduran Justice Ministry on Thursday
prosecuted ousted President Manuel Zelaya
and former Minister of the Presidency
Enrique Flores Lanza for falsification of
public documents.
According to Public Ministry spokesman
Melvin Duarte, the prosecution orders were
related to an investigation into the payment
of 1.3-million-U.S. dollar public expenses.
Zelaya, ousted in the June 28 military coup,
has been staying along the
Honduras-Nicaragua border, seeking to return
to his country.
The ministry also issued prosecution orders
against former Finance Minister Rebeca
Santos and Jacobo Lagos, manager of the
state-owned telecommunication company
Hondutel, for misuse of power.
The move was promoted by the Special
Prosecutor's Office of Honduras on the fight
against corruption, which requested the
justice court to detain Zelaya and his
collaborators.
