Spanish Top Minister Visits Venezuela

Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos is
scheduled to start on Monday a state visit
to Venezuela to strengthen economic
relations, according to local media.
Accompanied by a large business delegation,
Moratinos is expected to sign several
agreements with Venezuelan President Hugo
Chavez on Wesdnesday, according to EFE news
agency.
The meeting with Chavez is expected to be
the framework for signing contracts with
several companies that want to consolidate
their links with Caracas, including Repsol
YPF, Iberdrola and MAPFRE.
Main such agreement involve the construction
of a combined cycle gas plant by Iberdrola
and Elecnor and Repsol's oil prospecting in
the Orinoco Strip, the world's largest crude
reserve, said EFE.
In the current international crisis times,
the Spanish Foreign Ministry also sees
opportunities to cut deals in the naval and
railway sectors, Europa Press news agency
reported.
