Honduras under State of Siege
Caracas - Honduran congressman Cesar Ham denounced his
country has been under a permanent state of
siege in Honduras after the June 28 coup,
and termed the de facto government headed by
Roberto Micheletti a dictatorship for its
continuous repression against the people.
"Despite that situation, the Honduras people
is withholding," Ham said in a phone call to
Venezolana de Television state-owned
channel.
The lawmaker is hiking through mountains
paths in an attempt to join ousted President
Manuel Zelaya, who has set camp on the
Honduras border with Nicaragua.
"We are fighting for our children, families,
friends, and the whole Honduran people," he
noted.
"It is not possible Honduras is living a
military dictatorship where the right to
protest is virulently repressed as
Micheletti's dictatorship has done," Ham
stressed.
On his journey to the Nicaraguan boder, Ham
is accompanied by Venezuelan filmmaker Angel
Palacios in the tour of the mountains.
