Rebels Killed in Colombia
Bogota - At least 16
members of the Revolutionary Armed Force of
Colombia (FARC) rebel group have been killed
during a two-day clash with government
forces, the army said on Saturday.
Assisted by the Air Force, the army
launched a raid against a FARC camp in the
central Meta province on Friday, said
General Freddy Padilla de Leon from the
Army.
Weapons, munitions and other equipment in
the camp were seized in the raid, the
general added.
FARC is the largest anti-government
guerrilla in Colombia. Colombian President
Alvaro Uribe has put the elimination of the
rebel group as his top priority.
