MERCOSUR for More Integration

Asuncion - The 37th Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) Summit of heads of State and government that is starting on Friday will be decisive for an effective regional integration, Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo asserted.

The subjects of the meeting aim at consolidating relations among the bloc member countries (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay) and associated States, as Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela, currently in the joining process.

The presidents and representatives of those nations will debate about issues related to elimination of double collection of the common foreign tariff and the mechanism to distribute the customs duties.

They have also planned to analyze the bill of regulations for trade transactions in local currencies, the proposals related to declaring the Guarani language as the MERCOSUR official language and creating the Permanent Secretariat of the Elederly.

Lugo highlighted that health situation in the region, marked by specific facts that deserve maximum attention, will be also included in the agenda.

In that reference, two joint statements will be issued by the bloc's health And Social Development ministers, as guidelines for the united regional struggle against the A(H1N1) influenza epidemic.
