Ticos Send 100 Million Plus Text Messages
The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad
(ICE) estimates that this year the number of
text messages sent over Christmas will
surpass last year's 100 million. The reason,
there are more cellular phones out there
than last year.
Of course with the volume comes backlogs,
delays in sending messages after the "send"
button is pushed.
Elbert Durán, spokesperson for ICE, said the
institution is doing its best to send all
messages on time, due to improvement to
network since last year, the delays will be
minimum at best.
Durán reccomends sending messages in the
early hours of the day, avoiding the peak
hours, like midnight of the 31st.
ICE says that some 23 million text messages
are sent on a regular day by Ticos. That
number increases on December 24, 31 and
February 14.
