Tope
Nacional Today at 1pm
Some 5.000 horses are expected to take over
San José today in the traditional Tope
Nacional.
The party kicks off at 1pm at the León
Cortés statue at the east side of the Sabana
Park, move along Paseo Colón, unto Avenida
Segunda and end up at Plaza Víquez.
This year the Tope is dedicated to Eduardo
Aguirre, the Latin American Idol finalist.
Part of the show includes horse exhibitions,
including King Kong, the big horse at Panaca.
Some 600 police officials will be on hand to
control the crowds and traffic ad Paseo
Colon and Avenida Segunda are completely
closed off. Downtown bus stops along Avenida
Segunda and cross streets are also being
redirected.
