Venezuela Triggers Mother-Child Program

CARACAS - The Venezuelan government will apply from this Wednesday the Mother-Child Attention Program Mission Niño Jesus, which aim is to guarantee pregnant women safe births.

The initiative includes prenatal hospitals to afford expectant mothers a special treatment around the country.

According to the President Hugo Chavez, every Venezuelan pregnant woman will have a decent labor.

We can not allow that expectant mothers do not know where they will give birth or receive bad treatments, said Chavez recently.

Niño Jesus will have a great impact for women in isolated areas, added the president.

The Cuban specialists will also back the initiative as they have done in others missions like Barrio Adentro to free healthcare to the Venezuelan people.

Opposition's radical sectors criticized the mission and said it is a government's political ploy.

Chavez ignored such accusations.

The left-wing forces also criticized the Mission Barrio Adentro in 2003 and this program has save more than 250 thousand lives, he pointed out.
