Salvador on Yellow Alert Due To Rains
SAN SALVADOR - Salvadoran authorities
declared on Monday a yellow alert due to
rains associated with a cool front that
affects the country.
The Direction of Civil Protection specified
in a release that the measure tries to
prevent people from the danger of the rains
that could affect several regions of the
Central American country.
According to the document several regions
are already considered high vulnerable zones
after the heavy rains that have soaked
country on November 7th and 8th causing 199
dead people.
After the alert issued on Monday the
emergency committees of the 14 departments
were activated and at the same time the
monitoring to detect possible emergency
situations were increased.
More than 13,000 people were evacuated last
November and were registered damage worth
millions due to rains.
Current rains will remain until Tuesday as
well as the cool front.
