El Salvador on Yellow Alert Due To Rains

SAN SALVADOR - Salvadoran authorities declared on Monday a yellow alert due to rains associated with a cool front that affects the country.

The Direction of Civil Protection specified in a release that the measure tries to prevent people from the danger of the rains that could affect several regions of the Central American country.

According to the document several regions are already considered high vulnerable zones after the heavy rains that have soaked country on November 7th and 8th causing 199 dead people.

After the alert issued on Monday the emergency committees of the 14 departments were activated and at the same time the monitoring to detect possible emergency situations were increased.

More than 13,000 people were evacuated last November and were registered damage worth millions due to rains.

Current rains will remain until Tuesday as well as the cool front.
