Dilapidated Structures Arrive
At least 12 of the country's worst bridges
will be replaced with the arrival of a dozen
"bailey" bridges that the Ministerio de
Obras Públicas y Trasnsportes (MOPT) has
purchased for the temporary fix.
The cost of the units is ¢3 billion colones
and the first to get the fixes are bridges
in Esparza and Turrialba.
Marco Vargas, the MOPT minister, added that
the CONAVI has finished hiring new bridge
inspectors which will be on the job on
Monday to inspect all the bridges in the
country and their safe use by vehicles and

The group of inspectors is made up of 18
professionals that will begin their duties
on Tuesday. Castro said that another 22
