INSTRUCTIONS
Switching From TDMA To GSM / 3G
Subscribers of the TDMA cellular service who
choose to migrate to the either the GSM or
3G network can do so with ease and keeping
their phone number.
The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad
(ICE) has begun the process of migration for
those customers who want to move to the 3G
and in January for those opting for the GSM.
TDMA customers need only visit an ICE agency
to sign a new contract to complete the
process, which is seamless.
Customers will be able to keep their
telephone numbers and their security deposit
transferred to the new service.
The requirement is a 3G or GSM cellular
phone and identification (cedula).
ICE no long requires a receipt for the
purchase of the telephone or a utility bill.
For customers who have service before the
"residency" requirement, a copy of their
passport is sufficient.
