ALBA is the Option, Says Nicaraguan Minister
HAVANA - Minister-President of Nicaragua''s New Social Emergency Fund,
Nelson Artola, said on Friday in Havana that
the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of
Our America (ALBA) is the alternative to the
hell of wild capitalism and neoliberalism.
Artola, who is taking part in the work
meeting of experts of the ALBA Summit,
explained that his ministry joins hands with
the People's Power in dealing with social
investment, mainly in infrastructure.
The People's Power is the expression of
organized population in our full democracy
on this second phase of the Sandinista
Revolution, he noted.
Experts are exchanging views about social
advances of ALBA, including the achievement
of guaranteeing the right to health to the
people, he said.
In this regard, he referred to joint work of
the Cuban medical brigade "All with Voice"
and young Nicaraguan docs graduated from the
Latin American School of Medicine, who are
carrying out a study on people with any
disability.
We also reviewed achievements made in the
literacy campaigns, including that carried
out in Nicaragua, where we managed to reduce
the 40-percent illiteracy rate inherited
from neoliberalism to 3.5 percent through
the Cuban teaching method "Yo Si Puedo"
(Yes, I Can).
