Festival De Luz Tomorrow Means Road Closures
in San José
Heading for San José this weekend? Keep in
mind that access to the downtown core of San
José will be restricted beginning Saturday
morning, as the city prepares for the
largest and most extravagant festival of the
year, the Festial de la Luz.
Traffic police will be closing off access to
Paseo Colón, Avenida Segunda and adjacent
areas from the early hours of Saturday
morning, in preparations for the festival
that begins at dusk.
Coming in from the airport, it is
recommended to use the La Uruca exit from
the autopistas General cañas and the
Circunvalación from the Prospero Fernandez
(from Santa Ana).
All traffic will be reduced to one lane on
the south side of the Sabana park and along
Avenida 10. The autopista is expected to be
completely closed off at the northeast
corner intersection of the Sabana park
(diagonal to the Nissan).
Vehicular traffic along Paseo Colón and
Avenida Segunda will be complete closed off
until after the festival ends, somewhere
around midnight.
Similar conditions are expected on the east
side of San José by the area around the
Plaza de la Democracia, the last stop for
the parade.
Bus stops and routes coming into and out of
San José that use Paseo Colón and Avenida
Segunda will also be affected.
