Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter Honours
The Death of Hid Friend
Former US president and Nobel Peace Prize
winner, Jimmy Carter, expressed his sadness
of the death of
his friend President Rodrigo Carazo.
I"During the last two decades, he joined me as
a member of the Carter Center's Council of
Presidents and Prime Ministers of the
Americas, leading numerous electoral
observation missions for The Carter Center
to help strengthen democracy throughout the
hemisphere.
As a life-long advocate for peace and human
rights, he was instrumental in Latin
America's progress toward democracy in the
1980s and 1990s, and as a member of the
Friends of the Inter-American Democratic
Charter, he worked continuously in recent
years to help Caribbean and South American
nations maintain or strengthen those gains.
We extend our condolences to his family as
this difficult time", said Carter in a press
release.
