Paraguay: 661 Acres of Marijuana Destroyed

ASUNCION - The National Anti-Drugs Secretariat of Paraguay (SENAD) destroyed 661 acres of marijuana in Canindeyu department, 280 miles north eastern from this capital in Brazil border.

According to a SENAD report, there were also burned 7,700 and 4,050 kilograms of minced and crushed cannabis respectively.

The SENAD text says that destroyed fields are equivalent to 687 tones of that drug.

By the end of the operation that takes 10 days and was backed by the Federal Police of Brazil, anti-narcotics agents also eliminated 70 kilograms of marijuana seeds, 34 rudimentary presses and 34 camps used by drug producers. Paraguay was cited as one of the main marihuana producers during 2008.
