Ousted Honduran President Zelaya Heading For
Mexico In exile
TEGUCIGALPA - Ousted Honduran President
Manuel Zelaya will leave the country
Wednesday for exile in Mexico after nearly
three months staying in the Brazilian
embassy in Tegucigalpa.
A plane was en route to Honduras from Mexico
to collect Zelaya, said Jose Alfredo San
Martin, head of the Honduran Civil Aviation
Authority.
The Honduran Congress voted against the
reinstatement of Zelaya after Porfirio Lobo
won the presidential election on Nov. 29,
which was boycotted by Zelaya.
Zelaya, who was ousted in a June 28 coup and
forced to exile in Costa Rica, snuck back
into Honduras in late September and took
refuge in the Brazilian embassy.
