Recope To Complete Pacific Terminal Feasibility In January

Costa Rica's state refinery, the Refinadora Costarricense de Petroleo S.A. (Recope) in January plans to complete feasibility studies for a Pacific coast fuels terminal in Costa Rica, a company said.

The terminal will act as an alternative entry point and help guarantee fuel supply when bad weather prevents ships from docking at Moín port in Limón the Atlantic coast.

Colombian firm Bohórquez Ingeniería has submitted the basic engineering which is under review, said the official.

The Pacific import, storage and distribution terminal could receive vessels of 20,000-40,000 tonnes.

Moín handles vessels capable of transporting up to 30,000 tonnes as marine bottom shifting from a 1991 earthquake reduced draft to 9-9.5m.

Once the feasibility work has been completed, the project's implementation timetable will be defined, the official added.
