Zelaya Criticizes Countries Supporting
Elections
TEGUCIGALPA - Ousted Honduran President
Manuel Zelaya on Friday blasted the
countries that supported Sunday's general
elections in Honduras, saying their approval
had "bleached" the coup against him.
In a letter to leaders of other American
countries, Zelaya also condemned
President-elect Porfirio Lobo for giving
validity to the coup.
In the letter read by Radio Globo, Zelaya
condemned the governments "which followed
the suggestions of the United States to
bleach the coup by supporting an
illegitimate electoral process."
Zelaya, who was deposed in a June 28 coup
d'etat, also said the Honduran Congress
session on Wednesday "was a shame for the
country."
The Congress voted 111-14 to reject Zelaya's
symbolic return. Zelaya's term of office
ends in January.
The president-elect is expected to take over
power from the interim leader on Jan. 27 for
a four-year term.
