School Year Starts On February 10
The Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP)
announced that the 2010 school year will
begin on February 10, three days after the
presidential elections. The announcement was
made by the viceministra de Educación,
Alejandrina Mata.
Normally the school year begins at the
beginning of February and on a Monday.
Since, 2010 is an election year and schools
are used as voting centres.
However, the good news of a longer "summer"
vacation by the some 1 million students
won't be so nice come December, when the
school year end will be on December 17 and
not the traditional first week in December.
The school year in Costa Rica is 205 days.
The MEP announced also that the mid year
school break will be July 5 to 16, 2010. |
