Public Servants Get Their Aguinaldo Today,
Four Says Early
Some 174.0000 central government employees
will be receiving their Aguinaldo today and
not on Tuesday as it had been announced by
the government last month.
The ministra de Hacienda (Revenue minister),
Jenny Phillips, said on Thursday the
government is ready to pay the Aguinaldo,
four days earlier than had been expected.
The public servants receiving payment today
are those of the various ministries, the
Poder Judicial, the Asamblea Legislative,
the Defensoría de los Habitantes and the
Contraloría General de la República.
Employees of public institutions and
agencies, like ICE and the AyA, are paid
based on each respective institution's
policy.
All employers - public and private - must
pay their salaries employees their Aguinaldo
on or before December 20 to avoid sanctions.
The Aguinaldo is, for simplicity sake, equal
to one month's average salary paid to an
employee during December 1, 2008 and
November 30, 2009. For employees working
less than a full year, they will receive a
proportionate payment. |
