ICE Plans To
Reward "Faithful" Customers
The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad
(ICE) in an attempt to get customers to pay
on time says it will be raffling off
Blackberrys and iPhones to customers who pay
their telephone bills before their due date.
ICE spokesperson, Elbert Durán, said the
promotion is aimed at stimulating the
consumer awareness to pay their bills on
time and reward "faithful" customers.
In addition to the cellular phone units, the
raffles will include access to new services,
additional free call time, among other prize
items, that include vacation packages,
dinners and movie passes.
Although the promotion has yet to begin,
Durán, said the announcement of the launch
date is around the corner so it is best for
customers to get into the habit of paying
their phone bills promptly.
Although the cellular telecommunications
monopoly held by ICE for decades is no
longer, ICE continues to remain the sole
provider of cellular service in Costa Rica,
while the newly created telecom regulator
moves through the process of approving
competition in the sector.
It is expected by this time next year at
least three operators, in addition to ICE,
will be providing cellular service in Costa
Rica, including the long awaited 3G service. |
