Venezuelan Police Dismantle Drug Labs
Caracas - Venezuela's Bolivarian National
Guard (GNB) and National Anti-drug Guard (ONA)
dismantled four drug labs in Zulia state, on
the country's western border with Colombia,
authorities said on Thursday.
Interior and Justice Minister Tarek El
Aissami said that, during the operation, the
police also seized 400 kg of coca paste and
300 kg of high purified cocaine.
El Aissami said the police were not able to
detain the people working in the lab,
because they fled to the Colombian side of
the border as helicopters from the
Venezuelan army approached.
Venezuela and Colombia share a border of
2,220 km from the Caribbean Sea to the
Amazon.
The Venezuelan authorities this year have
dismantled 10 drug labs, seized 40 tons of
drugs and detained 4,000 people, 240 of whom
were foreigners. |
