Soccer Fans In Costa Rica To
Get New Tickets For Mexico Game
Costa Rican soccer officials have decided to
reissue tickets for the Mexico game, a
critical World Cup qualifying game, after
reports that the market is flooded with
counterfeit tickets.
The announcement was made on Wednesday for
all tickets for the September 5 game that is
the be played at the Saprissa stadium in
Tibás.
The game is to determine which team advances
to take part in next year's World Cup in
South Africa.
Costa Rica leads the CONCACAF qualifying
with 12 points. The United States and
Honduras are behind with 10 points each and
Mexico with 9.
The top three automatically advance.
The new tickets are expected to go on sale
beginning today and holders of counterfeit
tickets will have some explaining to do when
they try to trade in the fakes for the real.
The decision by the Federación Costarricense
de Fútbol to replace the tickets was based
on "solid rumours" of the counterfeiting. |
