Raul Castro Meets Panama Ex President

President Raul Castro met with former
Panamanian statesman Martin Torrijos, to
analyze several issues of interest to both
countries, the island's media reported
Wednesday.
According to reports by Cuban Granma and
Juventud Rebelde dailies and the main radio
and television stations, Martin Torrijos was
welcomed by Raul Castro, as a general
secretary of the Democratic Revolutionary
Party (PRD).
Both leaders excahnged about several
important issues to Cuba and Panama, in
accordance with the historic friendship and
mutual understanding that characterize the
relations between both countries, the
sources stated.
Torrijos, whose term of office concluded
recently, visited Havana in January as a
head of State.

department of the Cuban Communist Party
Central Committee Jorge Marti and PRD leader
Luis Gomez attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the national media published the
extensive exchange betwen the Cuban
president and his Ecuadorian peer Rafael
Correa, who is paying a private visit to the
Caribbean nation.
Raul Castro and Correa expressed
satisfaction with the positive and growing
bilateral ties, and assessed the
international situation, especially those
issues that currently concern Latin America
and the Caribbean. |
