World Day against Honduran Coup Convoked
Tegucigalpa -
Organizations of the Honduran civil society
convoked to a world day of protest for
August 28 against the military coup in
Honduras and the complicity of US
intelligence with the coupist regime.
The calling includes other activities in
front of the US Embassy in Tegucigalpa and
other parts of the world.
"We exhort solidary and committed people
with democracy to join the protest against
the dictatorship," the convoking said.
The organizations, grouped in the National
Front, demanded the return of
institutionality and the restitution of
President Manuel Zelaya.
They also requested the US government a
strong position against the regime of
Roberto Micheletti and the immediate
interruption of every kind of cooperation
with the coupist regime.
Manuel Zelaya stated that the Honduran
crisis might be solved by his legitimate
government and the US government in perhaps
five minutes, taking in consideration the
great economic dependence Honduras has from
the US. |
