US Bases Mar South American Climate
Caracas - The
agreement for the installation of seven US
military bases in Colombia spoiled
Colombian-Venezuelan relations while other
countries of the region are on warning alerts.
The Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned
Sunday over the danger and called to
neutralize the threat that has already
prompted reaction in Ecuador and Bolivian
governments.
The situation affected Colombian-Venezuelan
trade first of over 7 billion dollars
annually while Venezuela announced decision
to strengthen defense.
However the cost it could have for trade and
expenses of defense seemed to be paled if
you take into account the danger of the
action considered an expression of the line
of war of United States.
Chavez said it is the beginning of a fence
for Latin America to control it oil,
water-bearing and mineral resources
scattered throughout Venezuela, the Amazon
and the South Cone.
Colombian President Alvaro Uribe had not
succeeded in his attempt to justify the
bases arguing the struggle against drug
trafficking which main exponent is the Plan
Colombia.
For Chavez is very significant that in 1999,
year in which he took the post, the
initiative was implemented which original
name was Plan for Peace, Prosperity and the
Strengthening of the State.
The analysis started on the criterion that
United States does not really fight drug
trafficking but supply it and the Colombian
economy depend on drug production.
The Plan Colombia is a scheme of the empire,
warned Chavez. |
