Human Rights Commission Meets In
Honduras
Tegucigalpa - - The Inter
American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR)
began a meeting in Honduras on Monday,
according to news reaching here.
The meeting is expected to make a report on
the human rights situation after the coup of
June 28 in Honduras, said the vice president
of the commission Victor Abramovich.
The IACHR is one of the two bodies in the
inter-American system for the promotion and
protection of human rights. It is an
autonomous organ of the Organization of
American States (OAS).
The meeting was also attended by
representatives from the civil society and
from the Supreme Court of Justice in the
country, Abramovich said.
"We are not going to give conclusions on
what we see until the end of the visit, on
Friday we will give a report in a press
conference," Abramovich said.
The commissioners will visit San Pedro Sula
in the north of the country, El Paraiso in
the east and other places across the
country.
The meeting will finish on Friday and the
mission is formed by four of seven
commissioners from the OAS. |
