Resistance Continues in Honduras
Tegucigalpa - Tough
repression by special riot forces and vast
military deployment in Honduras have failed
to stop people's resistance, according to
opposition leaders.
Members of the regional directorate of the
National Front against the Coup d'Etat in
northern Honduras confirmed that the people
would take to the streets again despite
authorities' brutality against
demonstrators.
The Front also called on the people to
participate in actions against the June 28
coup in the capital, after the army and
police repression of popular marches on
Tuesday and Wednesday.
Repression forces attacked a demonstration
in favor of democracy in the city of Choloma,
and on the road to Puerto Cortes.

They were crazy throughout the municipality,
spreading tear gas, beating people,
Professor Gustavo Mejia told Radio Globo,
based in Tegucigalpa.
The president of the Confederation of
Employers of Honduras, Marcos Antonio Garay,
expressed indignation over police brutality
against the people.
He told the radio station that constant
repression is aimed unsuccessfully at
terrorizing and demobilizing the resistance
organized by the National Front.
For his part, indigenous leader Salvador
Zuñiga said in a speech on Friday, at the
end of a march in Tegucigalpa, that
resistance will not stop despite the
difficult moments, and noted that sooner
than later victory will come. |
