Costa Rican Legislature Free Of The AH1N1 Virus

Laboratory test results were negative for the head of the PLN party in the legislature, Jorge Méndez, being infected with the AH1N1 viras, alleviating fears of a massive infection in the country's legislature.

The ministerio de Salud announced the infection free Congress and said that Costa Rican president, Oscar Arias, who earlier this week was confirmed infected, is getting better.

Arias is the first head of state to announce publicly of being infected with the AH1N1 and has been working from home, limiting his contact with people to close friends and advisors, who were on hand Wednesday evening at the Arias private home in Rohrmoser to watch the Costa Rican national soccer team defeat against Honduras.

Salud officials said that Méndez has the flu, but test results show it is not the AH1N1 as feared.

Legislative Assembly officials earlier this week also reinforced the health protocols to avoid any mass infections.
