Cordoba Demands Colombia Conflict Solution

Caracas -  Colombia senator Piedad Cordoba affirmed she will demand the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) to issue a Resolution to urge Colombian government seek for a definitive solution to the present conflict in its country.

Cordoba wants UNASUR to declare itself in favor of a cease of war between the government and the Colombia Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC) during a meeting with the presidents of the organization members' states to be held in Quito, Ecuador next Monday.

"Peace can't continue being something temporary or a vision in a far-off horizon" emphasized the coordinator of Colombians for Peace after a meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

He said -starting from the moment in which we (Colombians) begin that tireless and permanent search, when we begin the liberation process, the regressive count for peace in Colombia began, emphasized the lawyer.

The conflict in my country, she warned, could be uncontainable and could nearly burn the region.

She also demanded for a meeting with Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa who will preside over UNASUR soon.
