Venezuela To Return Ambassador To Colombia
Caracas - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
ordered his country's ambassador to return
to Colombia after withdrawing him a week
ago, local media reported Saturday.
Chavez told Ambassador Gustavo Marquez to
"go back to Bogota" during a televised
meeting, reports said.
Marquez was recalled last week amid a
diplomatic spat over Colombia's plans to
allow the United States to establish
military bases in its territory.
Last week, Chavez said U.S. military bases
in Colombia could be misused to carry out
attacks on Venezuela, thus endangering peace
in Latin America. The spat further raised
tensions between the two neighboring
countries. |
