Honduras March on Third Day
Tegucigalpa, - Thousands of Hondurans
restarted Friday the third day of National
Popular Resistance March towards this
capital and the northern city of San Pedro
Sula, to restitute the state of law.
Xiomara Castro, first lady of the government
of Manuel Zelaya, referred Thursday in a
speech at the western city of Santa Barbara
to the people' sacrifice for the restitution
of the constitutional order.
"This struggle is not only for Zelaya's
return, but also to achieve a fairer and
more solidarity Honduras, faced with an
oligarchy that only tries to maintain and
increase its privileges," Castro stated.
Zelaya's wife is attending the march
starting three days ago from the country's
western department of Copan to San Pedro
Sula, 155 miles north of the capital.
The National Front against the coup d'Etat
announced that participants in the march
will walk from 9 to 12 miles daily, until
arriving in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula
on Tuesday.
Meanwhile in the capital, the Front called
again to stage peaceful protests, despite
the repression promoted by armed forces and
the police. |
