French Company Interested in Bolivian Gas
La Paz - The French oil company, TOTAL,
expressed to Bolivian authorities it was
interested in commercializing natural gas
from Itau camp in Potosí department (south)
informed
According to a report of the company that
area should be exploited by mid 2010 with an
approximate production of 1,4 million cubic
meters of gas a day.
Itau was discovered in 1999 in Block XX
Tarija West in which Total is the main
operator with a participation of 75 percent.
This site is a rich region of the Andes
Mountain Range and also contains important
reserves of natural gas.
Previously the minister of Hydrocarbons and
Energy, Oscar Coca, stated that the
government would boost execution of more oil
investments in the country to increase the
volume of production to guarantee supply for
the internal market, for new projects and
for exports.
