Paseo de las
Damas Closed, Heredia Commuter Train Service
Commences Starting Monday
A reminder that the Paseo de las Damas will
be completely closed for the next two months
to allow for the removal of the asphalt
surface which is to be replaced with a
concrete surface.
The closure will begin on Monday, August 10,
from the Estación de el Atlantico (Atlantic
train station) to the Parque Morazán.
The mayor of San José, Johnny Araya, said
the work is part of an effort by the
municipality to reconstruct a number of
downtown roads like Avenida 3 from the
Parque Morazán to the Fischel and Avenidas 8
and 10.
The work on the Paseo de las Damas, an
historical part of the downtown core,
coincide with the start of the San José -
Heredia commuter train service that also
begins on Monday and according to Araya, to
bring life back to the area.
The mayor added that the new road will have
a cost of ˘2.2 billion colones and a life of
30 years.
If travelling through the area it is best to
plan out the alternate routes, like taking
Avenida Central or Avenida1 that runs at the
front and back of the Legislature building
(south side of the Parque Nacional). |
