Argentina President Announces Benefits
Buenos Aires - Argentinean President
Cristina Fernandez doubled the compensation
to local milk producers for a liter of milk
Monday, as part of the benefits program the
Argentinean government is carrying out.
The milk producers are taking months in
their demand for an improvement for the
sector.
The announcement was made by Fernandez in a
ceremony at the Higher Integral Milk
Production School in Villa Maria, province
of Cordoba.
Fernandez announced the subsidy will be
increased from 10 cents to 20 cents for
every liter of milk, up to 3,000 liters, for
producers able to produce up to 12,000
liters a day.
The Argentinean President highlighted the
importance of the dialogue for solutions and
exemplified with this decision for a more
genuine expression of the support to rural
production.
She said that despite the problems generated
by the international financial crisis and
the fall of the prices in the foreign
markets, Argentina is producing 4 percent
more of milk, and 14 percent more was
exported abroad in the first quarter of this
year.
The agreement with the sector is an
important effort in difficult moments of the
world economy since it is an investment of
more than 130 million dollars.
Fernandez remembered the Argentinean society
has many pendent debts, but the government
has the obligation to get agreements with
social, national and patriotic
responsibility.
