New OAS Step to Solve Honduran Crisis
San Jose - The Organization of American States
will discuss the sending of a high level
commission to Honduras Wednesday to examine
the crisis in that Central American nation.
OAS secretary general Jose Miguel Insulza
made the announcement Monday after a meeting
with Costa Rican President Oscar Arias,
Spanish First Vice President Teresa
Fernandez and Ibero American secretary
general Enrique Iglesias.
The OAS delegation might be also formed by
Foreign Ministers of the Latin American
countries and theior mission would be to
look for approaches between the
representatives of the constitutional
government and the coupist government now in
the power in Honduras.
In opinion of President Arias this working
team would help to get the positions of both
parts much closer to see if the Agreement of
San Jose can be totally fulfilled.
Up to now, the coupist government reiterated
its negative to accept the return of
legitimate President Manuel Zelaya.
