James Nathaniel Holland '88 to Perform at
Gala in Costa Rica Next Month
James Nathaniel Holland,
a 1988 graduate of DePauw University, will
be the featured invited artist at the Opera
de Cámara's gala on September 24. It is to
be held at Costa Rica Teatro Nacional or
"National Theater" in San José, Costa Rica.
Holland is scheduled to sing "Una furtiva
lagrima" from Donizetti's Elisir D'Amor, the
duet from Bizet's Les Pêcheurs de Perles and
an ensemble selection from L'Italiana en
Algeri by Rossini.
This marks Musical Note.jpgHolland's second
major public appearance in Costa Rica,
following a presentation of Rigoletto in
March of 2008 at the Teatro Melico Salazar.
The Teatro Nacional is home to the country's
National Symphony Orchestra and other high
quality performances. The building was
constructed in 1897 during Costa Rica's
coffee boom era, fashioned after the Paris
Opera building.
